What is a Personal Project?

SI Oceanside-Carlsbad members are required to do a Personal Project that nets at least $50 for the club's treasury.

Members can do this on their own, or work together. (Two members working together must do a project that nets at least $100.) Working together usually is more fun, and most members exceed their financial goal.

Examples of personal projects done by SI Oceanside-Carlsbad members have been:

  • making and selling craft items
  • hosting "high tea," where attendees pay admission and wear hats and gloves
  • a live performance of opera selections (by a very talented Soroptimist and her equally talented family)
  • a Wii bowling tournament (using the fun Ninentendo Wii video game system)
  • teaching a crafts class
  • sailing on a member's boat
  • taking a group to Temecula for a wine tour
  • "girls' weekend" at a member's vacation home
  • a giant "home party" featuring the products of several companies that sell via home parties
  • a discussion of world peace with a prominent speaker
  • a huge book, CD and DVD sale in a member's garage
